Message from Francesco

Greetings from Hong Kong - and Happy New Year!

We are now well into 2018... and I trust that the transition from the Winter Solstice (21 December) through New Year's Eve was a joyful one for you.  In one more month, Chinese New Year will be upon us and the annual transition phase will be complete and we will fully be into the Year of the Earth Dog.  I wish you and your loved one a joyful and vibrant new year in every way.

My Chinese Astrology sign happens to be Earth Dog, so I smile, feeling a curious sense of alignment in my life anyway, so this is just another "Dreaming Sign" as I like to call it - a reminder that all is well and that you are exactly where your soul alignment requires... For many of us, 2017 was one powerful year... a year of new starts, a year of big change, a time of deep reflection and reevaluation.  It was a "1" year numerically after all... For me, I was blessed that my Mom made it through a challenging medical operation and got out of the hospital right before Christmas so she could be the Matriarch she is for our enourmous family. I was also blessed to get married to my soulmate, Ambikha Devi, spending the whole of the year together traveling and teaching and deepening our connection and trust. Just a week or so ago we completed our nuptuials on a magical beach in the Philippines with Ambikha's family at the peak of the New Moon with four planets in alignment with the Moon and Sun.  Even though we were in the midst of a typhoon, the skies opened for the ceremony as we stood at the water's edge... We felt so grateful in every way...

We also managed to shoot a couple more Qi Meets Prana videos in the magnificent Philippine landscape as we build our new Qi Meets Prana YouTube Channel.  I hope you can go there and Subscribe so you can stay updated as we plan to add more and more instructional videos there combining the wisdom of Qigong, Yoga, Breathwork, and Meditation.

We will also be announcing in the coming months a beautiful new app for iPhone and Android that will support you in your personal practice.  We've been working on this all year and pray you will enjoy it and find it empowering.

Now as we flow into 2018, it's time for intention-setting.  If you've come to the workshops Ambikha and I offer, you know that is the first thing we always start with. Take a breath, right now, and secure in your heart with deep, feeling presence, the intention that you have set for the New Year.  If you are  the kind of person that doesn't make a "new year's resolution" (like me :)) then use this "intention setting" as a type of alignment, the way I learned to set my sails and rudder when I captained my sailboat years ago... refined adjustment on a regular basis is the key to heartful presence and "smooth sailing." I prefer setting lots of intentions all through the day, wrapped in gratitude, rather than making one big resolution that you most likely will wiggle out of anyway...

Trust the essential power of your intentions... this is not just the "mind" at with  (which is one of the several issues I have with the "Law of Attraction" folks - even though they do give a nod to "feeling") ... Sure, intention is partly mind, but an effective intention is always heart-centered and this calls in emotion, feeling, spirit, karma, ancestors, and an array of supportive energies from Earth to Stars. Once we understand this depth of intention-setting, we are Awakened to transcend setting any intention for a specific "thing." I address this in depth in my new book (hopefully to be published in 2018) but for now, I invite you to meditate on this broadband approach to intention-setting and widen your intentional awareness to a more inclusive and "essential" focus, giving your Dreaming (the Universe itself) more opportunity to express itself in ways that will surprise you...

Check out this month’s Breathe Deep Qigong Practice Tip below that continues a series on healing energy points.  It’s my pleasure to share these insights that come from my training with wonderful Masters in Asia and from the workshops and Qigong Study & Healing Retreats Ambikha and I offer around the world…

I thank all of you who have supported us and the non-profit Kahuna Valley organization through your purchase of our DVDs or attendance in our workshops or Rejuvenation Retreats.  It is our joy and honor to travel around the world and reconnect with friends this way… it really touches my heart.

Qigong Instructor Certification

Our 2017 OCQ Organ Cleansing Qigong Instructor Certification training in Florida was a deep and meaningful experience and I am honored to bring another group of excellent instructors through this process so they can add this powerful Qigong form (also known as Zang Fu Gong or Qigong for Detox and Organ Strengthening) to the classes they offer. This was our first Level II OCQ Training (which adds refined techniques in the moves and includes a new dimension in personal/emotional transformation.) Ambikha brought a wonderful new dimension to this program designed to truly empower the teacher within us. Typically, I only offer one Organ Cleansing Qigong Instructor Certification Training each year and our 2018 offering will be in November in New Jersey, USA.  We keep the size of these workshops small and we are grateful for the wonderful groups that assemble for these in-depth, 4-day trainings. The 3-month, post-workshop follow-up is part of the mentored training that is available for qualified Qigong, Yoga, and healthcare practitioners who meet the prerequisites. Click here to learn more

The number of our Certified Instructors around the world who met those prerequisites to teach this effective Qigong form is now 140.  If you are interested in being part of the next small-group Instructor Certification workshop being held in NJ, November 2018, please click here to let us know

National Qigong Association (NQA) Annual Conference

Back when I was the Chairman of the NQA, the Board and I always discussed the importance of moving this amazing Annual Conference around the country, and this year, 27 - 29 April, the NQA event will be held in North Carolina, and for that, I am happy,  Asheville is a great city and I remember teaching there many years ago and enjoyed the high-vibe of the local community. People from the U.S. East Coast/Midwest will find it easy to get there and will be surprised if you haven't been there before.  I hope you can attend and take classes from the array of good Qigong instructors who will teach at the Conference.  My wife Ambikha Devi and I will be offering a 2-day workshop called "Qi Meets Prana – Qigong’s Vibrational Resonance with Yoga" starting Friday afternoon and going all day Saturday at the Conference.  We hope to see you there!  Click here to learn more

Qi Meets Prana YouTube Channel and Facebook Page

We finally made the step and created a focused Facebook Page for the work we are doing in the area of blending Qigong with Yoga, Breathwork, and Meditation.  Thank you for visiting (and Following!) our new FB Page:

Thanks also for visiting (and please Subscribe!) to our new YouTube Channel:

Francesco and Ambikha's Workshops

Besides the class at the NQA Conference (above) other opportunities to deepen your Qigong, Yoga, Meditation, and Breathwork practice will be on September for our 11th Annual Thailand Qigong and Yoga Study + Healing Trip, our Bhutan Retreat, and our China Retreat.  These journeys are amazing healing experiences as they are matched with comprehensive holistic personal treatments every day... and this year we are adding gentle Yoga, principles, and more focused Breathwork components thanks to Ambikha.

In April, Francesco and Ambikha will be teaching in Denver and New York City... as well as at the NQA Conference in Asheville, NC.

In November, the next 4-day Organ Cleansing Instructor Certification Training in New Jersey will be offered. This is a great opportunity to become certified in this empowering Qigong form (also known as Zang Fu Gong or Qigong for Detox and Organ Strengthening.) We keep these classes small so that they are meaningful, so if you are interested, please click here to let us know soon

We hope to share (at least) one of these inspiring events with you!

Qigong Practice Tip of the Month

This Breathe Deep’s “Practice Tip of the Month” continues to look at “energy points” sometimes referred to as “acupressure points” or “acupuncture points.”  These “points” typically lie along the “jing luo” acupuncture meridians of the human body. I say “typically” since there are powerful points that can be found nearly anywhere on the body and don’t necessarily conform to what Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) calls “jing luo.”

Many people in our workshops talk to me about challenges they have with getting a good, deep sleep.  We all know how great we feel when we've had "enough" sleep... and how lousy we feel when we don't... An old Taoist Master showed me how the Yong Quan Point (Kidney 1) at the bottom of the foot can be used to help support a sound sleep.  Whether you can't seem to fall asleep or if you wake in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep, this technique may be one that you'll find really helpful.

Bend the leg of the foot you want to work with (it really doesn't matter which one you choose, but if you use this point a lot, be sure to switch between right and left regularly.) Ideally, rest your ankle on the opposite knee... but get into the most comfortable position you can so that you are able to place both of your thumbs on the Yong Quan Point located in the ball of your foot.  This point is the deepest indentation in the bottom of your sole when you curl your toes in.  With a deep exhale, squeezing your diaphram and focusing on your Lower Dan Tian, press both thumbs into the Yong Quan Point, increasing pressure as you continue your exhale.  Let this take 4 or 5 seconds... Hold the pressure for a second or two... and then relax the pressure as you inhale, progressively until you've released all the pressure from your thumbs.  Continue this nice and slowly... Exhaling and inhaling... creating a gentle pulsing action... pressing and releasing.  The combination of calming the Kidney Qi, aligning your slow breathing, and synchronizing your thumb-pressure action all seem to work togther in a most curious way to send the brain a message to help you relax.  Keep this up for 2 - 4 minutes and then rest.  Observe your sensations, thoughts and emotions, as if you were in a Dream.  If you feel to repeat the sequence, do so one more time, then slowly, visualizing yourself drifting into a deep sleep, get back into bed and close your eyes.  Continue a natural, but slightly deeper breathing pattern, and allow your Wei Qi field - and your spirit - to expand and be free...

I trust you find this to be effective and supportive for your health as it has been for thousands I've shared it with around the world.  Write me if it helps, I'm always interested in hearing how people apply these ancient techniques for their personal transformation and health.

In the next Breathe Deep I will add another specific point that you can explore on yourself and others.  In the meanwhile, deepen your practice with the Dreaming Awake technique of transforming emotions into healing energy.  I wish you well on your journey… Peace…. Francesco
